There are tons of torrent websites out there, but aside from the private ones, most of the public torrent websites plain out suck in terms of providing you with statistics (seeders/leechers ratio) and indexing genuine torrents. For me the most important thing when searching for a specific torrent is the seeders/leechers ratio and not a lot of the public torrent websites update the statistics frequently.
Let's take a look:
Here is a comparison I made by uploading a torrent (Top Ten Favorite George W. Bush Moments by David Letterman) to the major public torrent websites. It was uploaded yesterday Jan, 16, 2007. I left it for a day and then today Jan 17, 2007 I tested to see which public torrent website is able to provide me with the most updated seeders/leechers ratio.
Pirate bay:
Shows a seeder/leecher ratio of 30/10 [Click Here]
Takes at least 7 hours to update and sometimes less.
Torrentspy:
Shows a seeder/leecher ratio of 23/10 [Click Here]
Takes at least 12 hours to update.
Mininova:
Shows a seeder/leecher ratio of 0/0. [Click Here]
Takes forever to update.
BTjunkie:
Shows a seeder/leecher ratio of 48/5 [Click Here]
Takes one hour to update without me uploading the torrent to the website. Btjunkie indexed the torrent by itself.
IsoHunt:
Not available right now.
The winner is evidently BTJunkie.
BTJunkie indexes from 5,000 to 25,000 torrents daily, and when you type something in that search field you successfully get what you were searching for with updated statistics which for me determine whether or not I should download a specific torrent. BTJunkie is fairly new I believe, but it manages to kick ass. It rules out the big names in the field including Torrentspy, Piratebay, Mininova, and even Isohunt when it comes back. Hurry and sign up for a free VIP account which enables you to add your private trackers and download automatically from BTJunkie.
